breakfast at JATILUWIH RICE TERRACES

Welcoming our arrival to the base of the northern highlands we stop at the captivating Jatiluwih Rice Terraces. Marvel at the panorama of this majestic mountain plateau while enjoying a morning meal at a family owned warung opposite the vast fields. The family farms their rice and produce in the Jatiluwih fields, so you can have a true farm to table dining experience. Jatiluwih rice terraces is a UNESCO world heritage site in recognition of the self sustaining natural 'Subak' water irrigation system which uses the water from the mountains to unfold through the fields like a life force that runs all the way to the sea. After breakfast we begin our journey up through the highlands to the majestic mountain falls.

SEKUMPUL WATERFALLS

Nestled within lush rainforest, alive with monkeys and natural wildlife, stands the most beautiful waterfalls in Bali. 'Sekumpul' which means meeting, is named appropriately as it's the meeting place of several falls. The falls are surrounded by a magnificent mountainous jungle, quaint picnic areas and an abundance of fresh sparkling clear pools to swim in.

The nature trek through the jungle will take around 3 - 4 hours, we will first reach a wonderful vantage point that looks onto the vast landscape where the waterfalls lie. We then follow the trekking path through the jungle, passing villages and fruit plantations, rivers, canyons and awe striking beauty throughout, we can go at your pace and stop anytime for a break. You know we are close to our destination when you feel a cooling mist dispersing through the air, and suddenly the gushing falls come into view, you will meet a tropical oasis, you may get lucky and witness a rainbow or two. Divine color filled holograms painted in the forefront of the scenery, a sacred moment as you reach the zenith of where the waterfalls converge, your arrival to the heart of the waterfalls is definitely worth the journey.

lunch at BUYAN AND TAMBLINGAN LAKE

After the trek back to the vehicle, we head towards the area of Munduk and take a moment to retreat by the lake side of the mountain and enjoy a meal at a quaint warung with views of Lake Tamblingan. After our meal we stop at several vantage points to take in the views of this spectacular natural wonder.

Mount Leseng or Gunung Leseng in North Bali is decorated with three lakes, which are, Lake Buyan, Lake Beratan and Lake Tamblingan, where nature has been kept almost untouched.

All three lakes are the life source for the surrounding communities. Located by the village of Munduk in the sub-regency of Banjar in the regency of Buleleng. The name Tamblingan is derived from the word 'tamba' meaning medicine or medicinal, and 'elingang' meaning spiritual, and a mythical tale of the healing waters sets the tone for these great Mystical Mountain lakes.

PURA ULUN DANU BRATAN

The floating temple , an iconic image of Bali, depicted on the 50,000 Rp note, this important Hindu-Buddhist temple was founded in the 17th century. It is dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of the waters, and is built on small islands. Pilgrimages and ceremonies are held here to ensure that there is a supply of water for farmers all over Bali as part of the UNESCO recognized Subak system.

CANDI KUNING MARKET

On the way back to your hotel we stop at this traditional Balinese market which provides fresh fruits, vegetables, spices and exotic flowers. It is located in the highland region of Bedugul in the northern part of Bali, near the Bratan lake.
